What each source is used for

  • Out-of-state overview: the existence of the three California routes and the threshold condition of an out-of-state professional-level credential.
  • Route 1: the less-than-two-years planning condition and the route's basic application context.
  • Route 2: two or more years of full-time experience with the employer letter and two summative annual evaluations.
  • Route 3: National Board Certification as the additional factor for that route.
  • Out-of-state FAQ: clarification questions, including the processing-time caveat and document scenarios.
  • English Learner resources: the requirement to hold an appropriate authorization when serving English Learners and the separate emergency-permit pathways.
  • Middle school assignment table: the current credential documents and authorization patterns an employer must review.
  • Fees and fingerprinting: the current CTC fee schedule, manual out-of-state fingerprint process, and the conditions attached to FD-258 submissions.

How dates are used

“Accessed” means a source was opened and checked as part of this release. It is not a claim that the CTC page was originally published on that date. “Next review” is our internal maintenance deadline, not a statement that CTC will change the rule on that date.

The current source review date is 2026-10-18. If a source changes, the affected page should be corrected, downgraded, or withheld until the new wording has been reviewed.

What is deliberately excluded

Community posts, search snippets, AI summaries, law-firm marketing pages, and university recruitment pages are not used as the final authority for a route rule. They can help identify a user question, but the practical rule must come back to CTC.

This source library does not establish a partnership with CTC, a school district, or any credential program. External links are provided for verification and context.

Report a source problem

Send the page URL and the sentence that appears inconsistent to corrections@teachingroute.com. Do not send a certificate number, transcript, or other sensitive record. For an urgent application decision, use CTC directly rather than waiting for a website correction.

See the corrections log and the methodology for the review process.
